Active Primary School Conference

APSC 2023 final keynote speaker

We’re delighted to announce our final keynote speaker at this year’s conference is Rob Oliver, GB Paralympian.

Rob Oliver is a Paralympic bronze medallist after an incredible finish to the men’s
KL3 final at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Riding the high of his Paralympic
achievement, Rob won World Championship silver in the same event just two weeks
later. Rob is a talented sportsman; after a spell as a weightlifter, he played football at
a variety of levels from 13-19. However, in 2008, he broke his leg during a match, 17 operations and nine months later he had his leg amputated due to medical negligence. Once he realised he could still take part in competitive sport as an amputee he decided to dedicate his life to becoming the very best.

Carl Woods recently released a short documentary 'A Perfect Balance of Absolute Chaos' that focuses on Rob Oliver's journey and goes into the mind of a Paralympian as he tackles the pressures and sacrifices of elite sport. This award winning short documentary shines a light on the dark side of sporting success, questioning the ‘win-at-all-costs’ mentality, toxic masculinity, and finding out what happens when 5 years of hard work are over in just 40 seconds.

Rob joins us on 17th November to share his experiences in a keynote speech, definitely not one you want to miss!
