If only, right?
Behaviour issues, fallouts, banning activities, incidents, injuries; are we getting warmer?
But what if there was a way to alter the standard playground scene?
✔️What if, rather than fallouts, children were getting on?
✔️What if, rather than the banning of activities, innovative activities were introduced?
✔️What if, rather than behaviour issues dominating, physical activity did?
✔️What if it didn’t have to be a what if?
With Playground Activator, it doesn’t.
What is Playground Activator?
In a sentence, Playground Activator is a Leadership Skills Foundation-accredited training programme that up-skills your workforce to help your pupils be more active more often.
What does the Leadership Skills Foundation accreditation mean?
The Leadership Skills Foundation is a well-known awarding organisation focused on developing leadership skills in young people. The accreditation of the Playground Activator programme demonstrates that it effectively fosters these skills within staff members and complies with regulatory standards, ensuring that learners acquire valuable knowledge.
Who’s it for?
✔️Lunchtime supervisors and support staff
How long is the course?
📅 One day
How does it upskill?
Structured and personalised training gives learners the skills and confidence to develop sustainable activities that help children be more active on the playground.
What does it involve?
- On-site delivery from an accredited Playground Activator tutor
- Resource pack
- A bag of play equipment
- Bespoke report and suggested actions
- Certificates of completion for delegates
What will learners gain?
- Learn how to set up and run safe and inclusive physical activities during break and lunchtime.
- Develop techniques on how to manage behaviour in the playground.
- Understand how to motivate participants and introduce competitions.
- Recognise the importance of healthy lifestyles, including emotional well-being.
- Gain ideas surrounding wet playtime.
Why bother?
- Because just 51% of boys and 45% of girls meet the recommended levels of physical activity, according to the Active Lives Children and Young People Survey. This survey found that overall activity levels for children and young people are stable. However, 2.2 million children and young people (29.6%) do fewer than 30 minutes of physical activity daily.
- Because a sedentary lifestyle creates long-term issues for children’s future health and well-being.
- Because today’s children may be the first generation to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.
- Because physical inactivity can lead to problems at school; behaviour issues, poor concentration levels and low attendance due to sickness can all be linked to inactivity.
- Because a lunchtime taken over by disruptive behaviour is tiresome and frustrating.
- Because it would be refreshing to get through break and lunch and realise its potential.
- Because it’s not only pupils who reap the rewards; it’s you or your team members who get to grow in confidence, skill and knowledge.
