Aspire Training Solutions' celebration of National Apprenticeship Week
National Apprenticeship Week will take place from February 10th to 16th, highlighting the achievements and contributions of apprentices nationwide.
CV Life believes that nurturing young talent is not just an option—it's fundamental. Here at Aspire Training Solutions, we love to celebrate apprentices' hard work and aspirations, so it was great to be part of a recent showcase of the apprentice’s progress so far during their time at CV Life. Every apprentice perfectly embodied the values of pride, passion, and performance. The day was filled with inspiring stories and experiences from all apprentices across the different apprenticeship standards.
A day of inspiration and aspiration
The energy at the apprenticeship celebration event was incredible as our CV Life apprentices shared their stories of achievement and ambition. Chloe and Callum are working towards the Level 3 Community Sport and Officer Apprenticeship. During their presentations to the group, they shared aspirations to progress towards having duty manager roles and responsibilities and how the training (both on and off the job) is helping them develop these skills. They also highlighted how they have begun developing vital leadership skills while supporting community projects encouraging sports and physical activity.
Jordan (Level 2 Community Activator Coach) and Aisha (Community Sport and Health Officer) were next to share insights with the group on utilising festive themes to promote physical activity. In light of the festive spirit, they decided to run a 'Santa Squad' swimming event. This festive Christmas swim week turned the pool into a playground filled with inflatables and water-safe games, bringing smiles and encouraging physical activity to every child regardless of their ability.
Another achievement to celebrate when Jordan shared his pride in becoming a qualified swim teacher—a milestone he has worked towards over the last 4 months.
Building skills, confidence, and community
School-based apprentices Matilda (Level 2 Community Activator Coach) and Louis (Level 4 School Sports Coach) highlight the importance of their apprenticeship and CV Life training, as well as the knowledge and skills they have developed so far working in schools delivering high quality extracurricular clubs and supporting PE. They played a pivotal role in organising tournaments and supporting PE events, with a strong focus on promoting physical activity among the school community.
It's clear that their dedication to sports education is inspiring, and their journey through safeguarding training and hands-on experience has been invaluable. Matilda expressed her appreciation about progressing her skills, while Louis' newfound confidence and independence in his role has earned him high praise from his school and mentor.
Ava (Level 4 School Sports Coach), a dance coach who is also providing PE curriculum support, expressed gratitude for the guidance of the experienced colleagues who are mentoring her and providing all the opportunities to apply the theory of her training in practice in her day to day role. This, in essence, reflects what makes CV Life a fantastic employer to work with. They strongly believe in upskilling their apprentices by providing opportunities for shadowing and expanding their skills.
Apprentices Lacey and Mia (both working towards the Level 4 School Sports Coach) showcased the progress in girls' football while successfully balancing their apprenticeship with their own sporting commitments. Through their efforts to create an inclusive environment, they are helping more girls participate, aligning with CV Life's mission to build confidence, health, happiness, and wellbeing—instilling pride in individuals, their community, and their city.
Stepping stones to leadership
As Iain, Luke, and Mason near the completion of their apprenticeships (Level 2 Community Activator Coaches), their eagerness to continue growing through advanced roles is a testament to their commitment and CV Life's supportive vision. "Our apprentices are not just filling roles; they are our future leaders"—a sentiment proudly echoed by Wendy and Paul Breed.
Wendy praised CV Life's evolution in nurturing talent through bespoke apprenticeship roles, embodying their investment in people, through helping upskill individuals so they have the necessary skills to reach their career aspirations. Additionally, Paul highlighted the unwavering support from centre management and the integral Aspire Training Solutions training, which complements practical experience and growth.
A bright future ahead
With the recent addition of Vicki Harlock, CV Life's new Training and Development Manager, CV Life is poised to enhance our apprenticeship pathways and offer exciting career prospects across the business. Their investment in apprenticeships is clear: they're not just shaping employees but envisioning the leaders and managers of tomorrow. This commitment aligns with CV Life’s vision to bring about meaningful and lasting quality-of-life improvements for the diverse communities of Coventry. Seeing our CV Life apprentices talk about their achievements and ambitions, we're proud, as this aligns with Aspire Training Solutions' mission to help end physical inactivity in young people.
CV Life's apprenticeship celebration reminds us that every apprentice, through communication and teamwork, is building a brighter future for themselves and our communities. Together, we'll continue to embrace the journey of learning and development, one apprenticeship at a time.
"Apprentices truly represent the spirit of CV Life. Their growth and enthusiasm reinforce our values, and we remain committed to creating pathways for their success. Thank you to Aspire for their ongoing commitment to such an impactful partnership" — Paul Breed.
