Stepping out of our zomfort Zone: A recap of our YST Conference workshop

Recently, Paul Griffiths and Luke Johnson had the incredible privilege to lead an enlightening workshop at the Youth Sport Trust (YST) Conference. It was a day filled with nerves, excitement, and ultimately, immense growth, not just for us, but hopefully for everyone who joined us. Here’s a little insight into our journey and the beautiful day that unfolded.

Why we couldn't say "No"?

Embarking on this adventure was a no-brainer for us. Despite the historical tension between sports coaching providers and the YST, the opportunity to share our passion and contribute to a space focused on children's active lifestyles was too great a chance to pass. The need to bridge gaps and unite for a common cause was clear, and we were all in. Facing our nerves - The big day Admittedly, the morning of the conference brought with it a tidal wave of nerves. Expecting a modest turnout, we were greeted by a packed room.

The realisation hit hard, but so did the determination. There's something magical about stepping out of your comfort zone - it's daunting, yes, but it's also where growth and change thrive. Our workshop was a culmination of hard work and planning, aiming not just to share knowledge but to engage and inspire a movement towards a more active youth.

The reception exceeded our expectations, with positive feedback making every moment of anxiety worth it. Out of our comfort zone and into growth Being out of your comfort zone might feel counterintuitive, but it's also when you find new strengths and push boundaries. Every deep breath, every shared word was a step towards something bigger - a commitment to keep developing skills and being agents of change. Inspiration and Gratitude Surrounded by inspiring individuals like Ken E. Nwadike Jr., who spreads love through sports, and Jon Alexander, a voice for change, we felt even more motivated.

Special thanks to Kay Batkin, Will Roberts, and Jim Morris for their support, and a heartfelt moment with Alison Oliver MBE perfectly rounded off the day.

Join the Movement

Our workshop at the YST Conference was more than just sharing strategies; it was about building connections, understanding challenges, and uniting for a cause that extends well beyond the playing field. We hope to have ignited a spark in others to join us in this movement towards an active, inclusive future for our youth. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us, supported us, and believes in making a difference. Your faith in what we do fuels our drive to keep pushing boundaries and inspiring change. To all aspiring change-makers out there, remember: growth lies just outside your comfort zone. Let's continue to build it, and grow together, and yes, they will come. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Let's keep the dialogue open, share ideas, and support each other in fostering an active, inclusive world for the next generation. Together, we are unstoppable!
