'National Bike Week'

National Bike Week is an annual event that takes place from the 5th to the 13th of June. This week-long celebration is designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities to hop on their bikes and enjoy the many benefits of cycling.

Cycling is a fantastic way to get around, and it's also an excellent way to improve your pupils' health and well-being. Whether your pupils are seasoned cyclists or complete beginners, National Bike Week is the perfect time to get out and explore the world on two wheels.

So, what can your school do during National Bike Week? Well, the possibilities are endless! Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

Encourage your pupils to go for a ride:

The most obvious way to celebrate National Bike Week is to simply hop on a bike and go for a ride! Whether cycling to the park, exploring your local area or enjoying a leisurely ride with family and friends, there's no better way to celebrate this fantastic event.

Advertise a local cycling event:

During National Bike Week, countless cycling events occur all over the country. From charity rides to family fun days, there's something for everyone. Check out the National Bike Week website to find events in your local area and share them with your pupils.

Learn new skills:

If your pupils are new to cycling or simply want to improve their cycling skills, National Bike Week is the perfect time to do so. Many cycling clubs and organisations offer free or discounted training sessions this week, so take advantage of this opportunity to learn new skills and improve confidence by sharing these sessions with your school.

Get involved with your community:

National Bike Week is also a great opportunity to get involved with your local community. You could organise a group ride with your pupils, or volunteer at a cycling event in your area. By getting involved, you'll not only be celebrating National Bike Week, but you'll also be making a positive difference in your local community.

Before each cycle journey or training session, it’s important to check whether a bike is safe.
