Let’s Move for Our Minds: World Mental Health Day 2025

As the school term gains pace, World Mental Health Day on 10 October is a timely reminder to pause and prioritise wellbeing.

This year’s theme  “Access to services: Mental health in catastrophes and emergencies”  calls attention to a growing challenge. In an increasingly unstable world, where conflict, climate events, and crises dominate the headlines, it’s vital that everyone can access the mental health support they need.

Schools are not immune to these global pressures. Pupils are absorbing anxiety from the world around them. Teachers and school leaders are navigating growing demands with limited resources. Stress, uncertainty, and overwhelm can affect us all, and that’s where everyday strategies make a difference.

At Aspire, we know that movement matters. It builds resilience, reduces stress, and boosts mood for children and adults alike. That’s why we champion Physically Active Learning. Programmes like Maths and English on the Move support not just academic progress, but mental wellbeing too.

Everyone deserves access to mental health support, but when emergencies hit, that support is often disrupted. We can’t fix every situation, but we can build school environments that help people feel secure, seen, and supported.

That’s where real change begins, one lesson, one moment, one connection at a time.

Simple Ways to Take Part:

  • Add short movement breaks into the day
  • Talk about mental health with your team or class
  • Use the playground for a burst of activity
  • Signpost support services and resources

Let’s move more for our minds, our pupils, and each other.
