We’re excited to share that Aspire Active Education Group has been appointed by Birmingham City Council as one of the official providers of Bikeability training for the 2025/26 academic year, on behalf of The Bikeability Trust.
This is a huge milestone for us and the thousands of children and young people across the city who’ll benefit from safe, inclusive, and confidence-building cycle training.
From April 2025, we’ll deliver Bikeability sessions in Erdington and Sutton Coldfield, working alongside fellow delivery partners Bike Right and The Active Wellbeing Society to ensure young people across Birmingham have access to the training they need to ride safely and independently.
Over 16 years of impact
Over the last 16 years, Aspire has delivered Bikeability to more than 19,500 children across 70 schools in North Birmingham. In just the past 12 months, we’ve worked with 1,701 children in 33 schools, delivering Bikeability Levels 1 and 2 and Bikeability Plus sessions like Balance Bike and Learn to Ride.
These aren’t just numbers. They represent new skills, growing confidence, proud smiles, and safer journeys to school and beyond.
“We’re delighted to continue working with Aspire Active Education Group to deliver Bikeability in Birmingham. Their track record of high-quality, inclusive cycle training and community engagement has made a real difference to children’s confidence, health, and independence.”

A partnership that moves the city forward
Under the new agreement running from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026, we’ll also help to grow the next generation of Bikeability instructors, ensuring more young people can benefit from the programme for years to come.
“We’re passionate about giving every child the opportunity to experience the freedom, fun, and independence that cycling brings,” says Paul Griffiths, Director of Business Development at Aspire.
“Being appointed by Birmingham City Council is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue inspiring healthy, active lives in the communities we know so well.”
Because every child deserves to ride with confidence
At Aspire, we believe that cycling can change lives. It builds confidence, supports health and well-being, and gives young people the independence to explore their world safely. We’re proud to be part of a city-wide effort to make that possible, one school, one child, one ride at a time.
